Message	days and cast aluminum. (It can also cast iron if you want) My friend sent me this a while back and I found it very intriguing. This whole process can be done in under $2000 at a production level. Short of the video: They 3D print an aluminum engine MOLD in sand They cast aluminum into the 3D printed mold They 3D scan it to verify tolerances The do final machining after to fit in steel liners and line hone the crank https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8MaVaqNr3U
